London Day 1

We pretty much wore ourselves out the first day in London. After our little bag mishap our schedule only had one set thing, and that was lunch at Le Gavroche. Meaning urchin from Les Miserable the image that represents this character is through out the restaurant. The fork, the knife, the plates, the sugar dish all carry and image of the little vagabond. The food was perfect. We both started off with a salmon and cream cheese appetizer. Cheri then went for a beef dish and Drew went with a pork dish. We would try to attempt to name the dishes in French but it would be wrong so we won't bother. The couple sitting just to the side of us were actually from the DC area. He works for Northrup Gumman and is on assignment in London. This started a whole conversation about family, children, and how they liked living and working in London. Drew should have chosen the cheese plate for dessert but we both went for the chocolate mousse. The gentleman next to us went for the cheese plate and the selection of cheese was incredible.

Le Gavroche

On leaving Le Gavroche we started to walk the streets and take some pictures. We finally decided to get to the hotel, check-in and get our room. Our room has a view of the River Thames and if you stretch out the window you can see the London Eye circling above. The room came courtesy of Marriott reward points. Thank you Marriott!! Drew surprised Cheri with a nice collection of flowers that he prearranged.

After a chance to freshen up we decided to simply walk the streets. Just by the hotel and the London Eye a myriad of street performers were performing. One of then caught Drew doing a little video....and then he just had to shake Drew's hand. Which made Drew's hand all nice silver.

We then found our way over to Liecester Square. We have been looking at this area for the past few months on a webcam and wanted to see it for ourselves. We then also sent a few txts to Adria so we could at least wave to her.

From there we walked over to Covent Garden and did some shopping. Actually browsing would probably me more accurate. We both were getting very tired yet simply didn't want to go to sleep yet. It was still rather early and we needed to get adjust to this time zone.

Near our hotel Storm Troopers were guarding one entrance. It was either that or the Porsche and Jaguar that were parked out front. These guys were rather serious and even had the voice modulators.

At this point, it was 8:00 pm but we were totally hammered. Cheri went back to the room. Drew took some night pictures of Big Ben. We wanted to stay up and talk with the girls on the webcam but we were simply to tired and it was still to early Utah time. So, we crashed. Overall, a very nice day!
